It’s Beginning - The history of the Fair can perhaps be divided into three broad areas. First the early years of the Fair when the Front Royal JAYCEES were an active, energetic organization; second the middle years when the membership of the JAYCEES dwindled to the point that it could no longer put on the Fair; and third, the later years

When the ownership and management of the Fair was handed over to the Warren County Fair Association, a non- stock, non-profit corporation, which has produced the fairs beginning in 1987. The JAYCEES were responsible for organizing the Fair from 1958-1986.

In the beginning the fair was named Warren County Agricultural and Industrial Fair . The JAYCEES leased two parcels in the area known as “Viscose City”; one on 18.84 acres lying on the west side of Kerfoot Ave. (to be used for the Fair) south of the American Viscose Plant, and the other 2.9 acres lying on the east side of Kerfoot Ave. across from the larger parcel, (to be used for parking for the Fair). This is the where the current soccer fields are in place 2007.

By 1960 it became evident that the JAYCEES need to find a new location because of pressure from American Viscose Corporation of needing their land. The JAYCEES  wanted land of their own where permanent structures could be build. A committee was formed and the most desirable tract (20 acres) is where the fairgrounds are today. Located at the intersection of Rt. 340/522 and Fairgrounds Road. The land was purchased from Carl Frye at $500.00 an acres ($10,000.00).

On March 18, 1987, the Front Royal JAYCEES executed a deed of gift conveying the Front Royal Fairgrounds to the Warren County Fair Association.
